| 背景信息 | Transmembrane protein 25 (TMEM25) is a protein localized to late endosomes, lysosomes, and tight junctions in epithelial cells and neurons. It serves as a key regulator of neuronal excitability by modulating the degradation of the NMDA receptor GRIN2B subunit, thereby influencing excitatory postsynaptic potentials. In epithelial tissues, TMEM25 attenuates the assembly of claudins during tight junction development through its interaction with Par3. Its expression is vital for proper transmembrane transport and absorption in the intestines and kidneys. Clinically, TMEM25 is associated with Bruck Syndrome, a rare connective tissue disorder characterized by bone fragility and joint contractures, highlighting its importance in maintaining structural and functional integrity across diverse tissue types. |
