| 背景信息 | Sulfatase modifying factor 2 (SUMF2) is a protein encoded by the SUMF2 gene in humans. It is a member of the sulfatase-modifying factor family and localizes to the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum. SUMF2 contains a DUF323 domain and exhibits low levels of formylglycine-generating activity. It can heterodimerize with SUMF1, a protein with high formylglycine-generating activity. SUMF2 plays a role in regulating sulfatase activities by competing with SUMF1 for the same substrate. The protein is involved in the post-translational modification of sulfatases, which is essential for their catalytic activity. In terms of disease associations, SUMF2 has been linked to urothelial carcinoma, where high SUMF2 expression correlates with poor overall survival and disease-free survival in bladder cancer patients. Additionally, SUMF2 amplification has been observed in urothelial carcinoma tissues. |
