| 背景信息 | GTPase, IMAP family member 8 (GIMAP8) is a unique member of the immuno-associated nucleotide (IAN) subfamily of GTPases, distinguished by its large size and the presence of three distinct GTPase domains. It is primarily expressed in the immune system, with high levels detected during thymocyte development and in mature B and T cells. GIMAP8 localizes to the cytosol but can associate with the endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, and mitochondria. It functions as a regulator of lymphocyte survival and apoptosis, where it typically exerts anti-apoptotic effects to maintain the mature B cell niche in the bone marrow and support T cell responses during infection. While it shares functional overlap with other GIMAP family members, such as GIMAP5, it plays a specialized role in modulating the threshold for programmed cell death in response to immunological stimuli. |
