| 背景信息 | Ring finger protein 133 (RNF133) is an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase characterized by a conserved RING finger domain, a zinc-binding structural motif that coordinates two zinc cations. This domain enables RNF133 to facilitate protein ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation through specific interactions with E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes. RNF133 plays a critical role in male fecundity, a function mediated by its interaction with the E2 ubiquitin-protein ligase UBE2J1. The protein is highly conserved across mammals and is encoded by a single-exon gene on human chromosome 7. Clinically, mutations in RNF133 are associated with Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy 73 (DEE73), a neurological disorder characterized by significant developmental delays and seizures. |
