| 背景信息 | Calcyphosine like (CAPSL) is a calcium-binding protein implicated in microtubule dynamics during mitosis. It promotes spindle formation by bundling microtubules into kinetochore fibers (k-fibers), facilitating chromosome segregation and satisfaction of the spindle assembly checkpoint. CAPSL binds tubulin in a calcium-dependent manner, and its crystal structure reveals calcium-induced conformational changes that regulate protein interactions. Elevated CAPSL expression is observed in various cancers, suggesting a role in cell proliferation, although overexpression has limited effects on the cell cycle. On the disease front, CAPSL dysfunction has been linked to familial exudative vitreoretinopathy (FEVR), a genetic disorder impairing retinal angiogenesis. This occurs through dysregulation of the MYC signaling axis. |
