| 背景信息 | RNA binding protein, mRNA processing factor (RBPMS) is a cytosolic RNA-binding protein that associates with the 40S ribosomal subunit to regulate pre-mRNA alternative splicing and mRNA translation. It is highly enriched in smooth muscle cells, cardiomyocytes, and embryonic stem cells, where it binds to CAC-rich motifs in target mRNAs. RBPMS promotes the dimer-dependent splicing of genes essential for smooth muscle differentiation and contraction, such as MYOCD, TPM1, and FLNB, while inhibiting phenotypic modulation to a synthetic state. In stem cells, it acts as a ribosome-associated protein that selectively enhances the translation of 3'UTR-bound targets like SFRP1 and SFRP2 by modulating EIF3 and EIF5A dynamics. Clinically, the loss of RBPMS is linked to vascular smooth muscle cell de-differentiation, which accelerates the development of atherosclerotic plaques and intimal hyperplasia. |
