| 背景信息 | PARK7, also known as DJ-1, is a gene that encodes the DJ-1 protein. This protein plays a crucial role in protecting cells, particularly brain cells, from oxidative stress and misfolded protein accumulation. Mutations in the PARK7 gene can lead to the early-onset form of Parkinson's disease, a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the progressive loss of dopamine-producing neurons in the brain. Loss of functional DJ-1 protein due to PARK7 mutations impairs its ability to protect cells from oxidative stress and protein misfolding, ultimately leading to neuronal death and the motor symptoms associated with Parkinson's disease. The DJ-1 protein is also involved in various cellular processes, such as transcriptional regulation, RNA processing, and protein quality control, further highlighting its importance in maintaining neuronal health and function. |
