| 背景信息 | Dehydrogenase/reductase 9 (DHRS9) is a short-chain dehydrogenase/reductase that functions as both a 3-alpha-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and a retinol dehydrogenase. It plays a key role in the biosynthesis of retinoic acid from retinaldehyde and catalyzes the oxidation of steroids such as allopregnanolone and androstanediol. DHRS9 is primarily expressed in epithelial and immune tissues, where it utilizes NADH or NADPH as cofactors to modulate retinoic acid and steroid hormone signaling pathways. Beyond its metabolic activity, it has been described as a moonlighting protein that may act as a nuclear transcriptional repressor. DHRS9 is fundamentally involved in retinoic acid-mediated transcriptional programs and visual retinoid signaling, contributing to cellular differentiation and hormonal regulation. |
