| 背景信息 | Chromosome 1 open reading frame 56 (C1orf56) is a multifunctional protein that acts as a proto-oncogene and a modifier of DNA methyltransferase 3B (DNMT3B) activity. It contributes to tumor suppressor functions by regulating promoter methylation and cellular proliferation. In reproductive biology, C1orf56 is prominently expressed in the acrosomes of the testis and translocates to the sperm surface during capacitation. There, it facilitates sperm-zona pellucida interaction and the acrosome reaction by binding to Sialyl-Lewis X and the zona pellucida. Although it is a critical factor in sperm function and has been studied in the context of lymphoma-related methylation changes, there are currently no well-established clinical diseases directly attributed to mutations in the C1orf56 gene. |
