| 背景信息 | Transmembrane serine protease 5 (TMPRSS5), also known as spinesin, is a type II transmembrane protease belonging to the peptidase S1 family. Structurally, TMPRSS5 consists of a short cytoplasmic domain, a transmembrane region, a stem domain containing a scavenger receptor-like motif, and an extracellular serine protease domain. It is encoded by the TMPRSS5 gene located on chromosome 11q23 and features five N-glycosylation sites in its extracellular region. TMPRSS5 plays roles in pericellular proteolysis and cellular signaling, with potential involvement in auditory function due to its expression in the inner ear. It may also contribute to tissue remodeling and immune responses. Mutations or dysregulation of TMPRSS5 have been linked to non-syndromic hearing loss and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1A (CMT1A), where it serves as a plasma biomarker for Schwann cell dysfunction. TMPRSS5's role in extracellular matrix degradation may also influence cancer progression. |
