| 背景信息 | SPARC related modular calcium binding 2 (SMOC2) is a protein encoded by the SMOC2 gene in humans. It belongs to the BM-40/SPARC/osteonectin family of extracellular multidomain proteins. SMOC2 is widely expressed in various tissues, including the skin, where it is predominantly found in the basal layers of the epidermis. Functionally, SMOC2 promotes keratinocyte attachment and migration by interacting with integrins such as alphavbeta6 and alphavbeta1, and its extracellular calcium-binding domain plays a crucial role in these processes. Mutations in the SMOC2 gene have been associated with major dental developmental defects and brachycephaly in dogs, indicating its importance in developmental processes. Additionally, SMOC2 has been identified as an intestinal stem cell marker and an independent prognostic marker associated with better survival in colorectal cancers. |
