| 背景信息 | Prostaglandin E synthase 2 (PTGES2) is a membrane-associated isomerase that catalyzes the conversion of prostaglandin H2 to prostaglandin E2. Beyond its role in prostaglandin synthesis, PTGES2 may interact with heme and glutathione to facilitate the degradation of prostaglandin H2 into 12(S)-HHT and malondialdehyde. It is also recognized as a gamma-interferon-activated transcriptional element-binding factor, suggesting potential activity as a transcriptional co-activator. PTGES2 is involved in fatty acid metabolism and innate immune pathways. Clinically, variants in the PTGES2 gene are associated with metabolic traits, including a reduced risk of type 2 diabetes in certain populations, and the protein has been linked to conditions such as primary hypertrophic osteoarthropathy and colorectal cancer. |
