| 背景信息 | Interleukin-37 (IL-37) is an anti-inflammatory cytokine belonging to the IL-1 family, comprising five isoforms (IL-37a-e), with IL-37b being the most extensively studied. This protein plays a crucial role in modulating immune responses by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, thereby protecting tissues from excessive inflammation and damage. Its mechanism involves binding to the IL-18 receptor and recruiting the co-receptor IL-1R8, which activates anti-inflammatory signaling pathways. Notably, IL-37 can also suppress the activation of the inflammasome, further contributing to its protective effects against inflammatory conditions. IL-37 is expressed in various tissues and its levels are notably elevated in inflammatory diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus, colitis, asthma, and certain cancers. |
