| 背景信息 | SLAIN motif family member 2 (SLAIN2) is a microtubule plus-end tracking protein that plays a crucial role in regulating microtubule dynamics and organization within cells. SLAIN2 binds to the plus ends of microtubules, promoting their nucleation, elongation, and persistent growth by linking various plus-end tracking proteins, including ch-TOG, CLIPs, and CLASPs, thereby facilitating the assembly of a functional microtubule network. This activity is essential for maintaining the normal structure of the microtubule cytoskeleton during interphase and is tightly regulated by cell cycle-dependent phosphorylation, which modulates its interactions during mitosis. SLAIN2 is highly expressed in tissues such as the liver, testis, and ovary, and is localized at the centrosome and microtubule cytoskeleton. Disruption of SLAIN2 function impairs microtubule growth and organization, which has been implicated in diseases related to centrosome defects, including certain cancers and neurodevelopmental disorders, due to its role in cell division and intracellular transport. |
