| 背景信息 | STAG3 cohesin complex component (STAG3) is a meiosis-specific subunit of the cohesin complex, essential for sister chromatid cohesion and chromosome axis formation in germ cells. It interacts with α-kleisin subunits such as REC8 and RAD21L to stabilize meiosis-specific cohesin complexes, which are critical for synapsis and the repair of DNA double-strand breaks. STAG3 localizes to chromosome axes and centromeres, where it facilitates proper chromosome pairing and segregation. Its absence leads to the destabilization of other cohesin subunits and results in meiotic arrest. Clinically, mutations in STAG3 are well-established causes of human infertility due to severe defects in germ cell development and chromosome pairing failures. |
