| 背景信息 | TP53 target 5 (TP53TG5) is a protein encoded by a gene inducible by the tumor suppressor protein p53. The TP53TG5 protein consists of 290 amino acids and has no significant homology with other known proteins, suggesting a unique role. It shows cell cycle-dependent intracellular localization, indicating its involvement in cell cycle regulation. Functional studies, including colony-formation assays in TP53-deficient cell lines, have demonstrated that TP53TG5 suppresses cell growth. The gene is located on chromosome 20q13.1 and is expressed variably across tissues including heart, brain, and small intestine. TP53TG5 is believed to play a role in the p53-mediated signaling pathway, contributing to cellular responses like growth inhibition and possibly apoptosis. As a p53 target gene, TP53TG5 might have an important role in mediating p53's tumor suppressive effects, suggesting potential relevance in oncogenesis and cancer suppression mechanisms. Thus, TP53TG5 represents a novel p53-regulated protein implicated in cell cycle control and growth suppression, with a likely impact on tumor biology through the p53 pathway. |
