| 背景信息 | Protein-arginine deiminase type-2 (PADI2) is an enzyme that catalyzes the post-translational modification known as citrullination, where arginine residues in proteins are converted to citrulline in a calcium-dependent manner. This modification alters protein structure and function, influencing various biological processes such as gene expression, cell signaling, and immune responses. PADI2 is widely expressed in tissues, particularly in the central nervous system and immune cells, where it plays a crucial role in macrophage function, including cytokine secretion and apoptosis. Dysregulation of PADI2 has been implicated in several diseases, notably autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis, where abnormal citrullination can lead to the generation of autoantigens. Additionally, PADI2 has been associated with cancer progression, as its activity can modulate transcription factors involved in tumorigenesis. |
