| 背景信息 | Roundabout guidance receptor 1 (ROBO1) is a protein encoded by the ROBO1 gene in humans, belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. It functions as both an axon guidance receptor and a cell adhesion receptor, playing a crucial role in the decision by axons to cross the central nervous system midline. Structurally, ROBO1 contains multiple immunoglobulin-like (Ig) domains and fibronectin type III (Fn) repeats, which are essential for its interaction with Slit ligands to regulate midline crossing of axons. Clinically, ROBO1 has been implicated in communication disorders, such as dyslexia, and is associated with phonological memory and mathematical abilities in young children. The protein's ectodomain structure, including its Ig and Fn domains, is critical for Slit binding and repulsive signaling. |
