| 背景信息 | SEC23 interacting protein (SEC23IP), also known as p125, is a mammalian-specific protein localized at the endoplasmic reticulum exit sites (ERES) where it plays a critical role in the organization and function of ERES and in COPII-coated vesicle trafficking from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus. Structurally, SEC23IP has phospholipase A1-like activity and shares homology with phospholipid-modifying proteins, and it directly interacts with VPS13B, recruiting it to ERES–Golgi interface to maintain Golgi structure and facilitate vesicle transport. SEC23IP contains domains such as sterile alpha motif (SAM) and DDHD, with its N-terminal region essential for binding VPS13B. Functional disruption of SEC23IP leads to Golgi fragmentation and disorganization of the ER-Golgi intermediate compartment. Additionally, SEC23IP is important in spermiogenesis and cholesterol trafficking relevant to steroidogenesis. |
