| 背景信息 | Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4 gamma 3 (EIF4G3) is a key component of the eIF4F protein complex, which plays a central role in the initiation of eukaryotic translation by recognizing the mRNA cap structure and facilitating the recruitment of ribosomes to mRNA, as well as unwinding secondary structures at the 5' end of mRNAs to promote efficient translation initiation. EIF4G3 acts as a scaffold protein, organizing other initiation factors and mRNA, and is notably enriched in the nucleus of spermatocytes, particularly within the XY body, suggesting a specialized role in regulating mRNA metabolism and translation during meiosis and spermatogenesis. Mutations in EIF4G3 have been shown in mouse models to cause male infertility due to meiotic arrest, likely by impairing the translation of key proteins such as HSPA2, which is essential for progression through meiosis. Additionally, aberrant expression of circ-EIF4G3 has been implicated in promoting proliferation, invasion, and migration in gastric cancer, highlighting its relevance in disease contexts. |
