| 背景信息 | Selenium binding protein 1 (SELENBP1) is a highly conserved cytosolic methanethiol oxidase that plays a central role in sulfur metabolism and redox signaling. It catalyzes the copper-dependent oxidation of methanethiol to formaldehyde, hydrogen sulfide, and hydrogen peroxide. SELENBP1 is widely recognized as a tumor suppressor, with its expression frequently downregulated in various malignancies, including lung, colon, and breast cancers, often through epigenetic silencing. Functionally, it modulates key cellular pathways by interacting with cell-cycle regulators like p21, hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha (HIF-1α), and the EED/PRC2 epigenetic complex. These interactions allow SELENBP1 to restrain cell proliferation, invasion, and carcinogenic progression, making its expression level a significant prognostic indicator in oncology. |
